Border Collies -The right puppy -

Bored(er) Collies

Border collies are exceptionally mentally and physically active dogs who need constant interest and stimulation to remain healthy and happy. They are not a dog for the inactive and their limited use by the assistance organisations in spite of their superior intellect is a reflection of their demanding nature.
An unhappy, frustrated bored, border collie is a true problem dog for the owner but much more important, it is a sad, lonely and unfulfilled individual doomed to a life of misery and increasing stress. This invariably leads either to the torpid, lacklustre demeanour of a dog with no hope left or to the manic, destructive and antisocial behaviour of the frustrated and unfulfilled.

Border collies need plenty of activity and stimulation

This is a very special breed which demands very special consideration. Whatever you do, your border collie will want (and has a right to expect) to do with you. He will demand and expect your time, your attention and your invitation to join in all your daily activities. If you cannot accommodate this there are many far less demanding breeds which may suit you better and it is far better to give serious consideration to the needs of the border collie before entering into ownership.
