Primrose at 12
Everyone likes a celebration and dogs are no exception, so when Primrose had to decide how she wanted to celebrate her 12th birthday she let it be known that only a dog party would do. Dog parties are like human parties except that everyone has more fun and the next day everyone can remember everything.
Like human, parties dog parties need the right sort of place, preferably somewhere with grass and hedges and water and plenty of room. There are some differences of course, the guests still get dressed up but everyone wears mud! No one brings presents, but everyone has to find their own, the host is then allowed to take them all away and keep them. It helps if the weather is perfect, that is to say, cool, overcast, damp and preferably rather drizzly and of course everyone gets lots of treats - particularly the host. Finally the host is allowed to bully and intimidate anyone and everyone and no one minds or gets upset.
12 is a rather special age for dogs, its about the same as 75 human years and after 12 dogs are officially old. Dogs don't mind being old because they don't have to worry about pensions or heating bills or not being able to drive anymore and "old" dogs are generally allowed to do anything they want, they can behave very badly and get away with all sorts of things. All in all being old is rather good if you are dog.
