Preparing for puppy.

Small items

Puppy - golden retriever Dusty with au pair Anna

Puppies will chew and often swallow any small item they can find so be particularly careful if you have an area set aside for any handy craft or hobby. Pincushions and needle cases make very attractive and dangerous toys, so do the small pins and wires used in many creative past times. If you use tools such as saws, planes, stanley knives or any other sharp implement make sure they are stored away out of puppy's reach at all times when you are not actually using them and make sure that the floor is kept clear of dropped pins etc.

Household items

All sorts of household items become potentially dangerous in the presence of young puppies, table lamps pulled of surfaces by their cables pose the twin hazard of electrical cables and falling objects, CDs pulled off shelves and chewed can be very sharp, waste bins containing all sorts of undesirable materials. Move anything that you consider hazardous out or reach or put it away until Puppy is a little older.
